Hey Gang,

I don't know if this thread has ever been visited (and I am too heat lazy today to use search mode), but was wonder what superstitions or "Have To's" you want to share.

A few of mine are:

- never bring a camera on the boat.
- never wear a fishing shirt.
- bring my lucky fishing cap.
- "have to" wipe Smelly Jelly on the lucky fishing cap before I fish.
- "have to" drink two glasses of milk before I leave the house.

Mine are: always count on catching fish and no bananas.

As soon as someone on my boat starts talking negative it is usually time to leave.

Have never hooked a fish with anything banana on board.

I always expect to NOT catch any fish.

Reverse psychology always works! :p

When we go to certain rivers, we always have to stop at the same local gas staion. If we don't the fish God will take revenge.

1. NO BANANAS. Period! That means no banana nut bread or funky banana muffins.
2. Legitimate coffee or beer spill.(Knocking over the beer on purpose won't work.)
3. Wear some kind of fishing attire.
4. Think positive and pray to the Salmon Gods the night before.

do not use yarn with my corkies, only two small ones.....

i have to fish alone or i dont catch any fish,

always wear this ugly alaska hat my grandma got me 3 years ago lol..

Always give the ocean or river or lake a swig of my beer.

what's the deal with bananas? i've heard that one before from a lot of people.

Yeah.....and if you don't catch anything, there's nobody there to tell everybody.

That is a very painful way to go fishing! :p

My only vice is coffee in the morning.

I always have to check to make sure the guides on rod tip are always perfectly straight with the butt section. :p

i don't do this anymore but my best friend and I used to moon the fish before we started fishing. we thought that it helped. Dumb things guys do to catch fish

Early morning: Little chocolate doughnuts and coffee. Late afternoon: Cold bud and pepper beef jerky. Doesn't always work, but I have fun.

I ran into the no bananas deal in Hawaii. According to the skipper on the boat we went out on, some warriors were cursed by a king for stealing his prize bananas. Our skipper actually checked for bananas and made a customer leave his at the dock.
My superstions include: when salmon fishing, wear one of my salmon t-shirts. I started doing this this year, I know it's silly but can't help it.

Somebody needs to say "here fishy fishy", or "we want the fishes that are so delicious". I also like to wear a North Carolina Tarheel hat.

No nookie the night before I chase chinookies! I caught a lot more fish when I was single...........

Newbie in the boat gets the first fish.

When fishing a certain river I have eat sausage, eggs and hasbrowns covered in Tabasco and Ketchup before I hit the river. Also, Never launch the boat before 8 am.

I will not go fishing without my lead master pliers. I just lost them so I need to get another pair real soon.

I have to eat Hostess mini-muffins in the morning on the way to the launch.
Wear my lucky fishing hat and boots
Buy gas at a certain gas pump and launch at one specific launch number
If I get a particular parking spot I am destined to have a great fishing day
and last is to leave the new fillet knive purchased last year in the truck

Throw in the apropriate amount of change in the water, ie. for a 30 pounder a quarter and a nickle. For a Coho, maybe a nickle and a couple pennies.

Bring my wife or daughter when I am desperate to catch fish. They always catch fish, first, most, biggest, etc. Neither of them care for fishing much of course - too easy

I like to walk under some ladders, break a couple mirrors, run over a couple black cats, and rub bananas all over myself before I fish.

Of course, all the bad luck that brings to me is magically rinsed away by listening to Angus on the way to the river.

With all these..... it is amazing that we catch any fish at all huh?

i always spit on the worm, grandpa tpld me too, and always pee before putting on the waders

When tying my knots, 7 wraps for hooks. Don't know why, just does not feel right to have more or less.

Went out on Sammamish with Mike C. He brought his shirt....I caught the fish again. I think I may have to have Mike wear a salmon shirt every time I go out.... :p

1. Always wet wade if it's over 60 degrees out.

2. Three hats always in car; wool stocking cap if it's really windy, G.Loomis "Fear no Fish" hat if it's slight wind, or slightly sunny fishing area, cowboy hat if it's raining or really sunny area to fish.

3. If I'm travelling north, then I get a frozen burrito ("The Bomb") at 7-11 in Woodinville. Chow it down with half a thermos of coffee. Hit first available rest area after 45 minutes.

4. Unless at terminal fishery, always drop fish off in bushes, drive car up to it, get in cooler fast. Don't walk down the road with fish in hand!

5. Always pick up corkies you find...especially really, really big clown colored ones that you'll never, ever use. Carry in vest forever.

6. I always wave at cops while on way to river.

7. It is very bad luck to not rely on a hunch and take a cast in a spot or way that you wouldn't normally. It might not result in a fish, but it will surely jinx your next few good spots...

My buddy and I fished today. Little did I know he brought banana's with him. After a sharp cursing out I told him to never bring banana's again.

We could not even catch a cold today.

1 Mr. Pibb X-tra per fish. And not only that, but I have to buy them seperately.

Shelly has to smoke one smoke per fish... it works. They are tellin her to quit

On Sunday, I found a squeeze bottle of Banana Boat sun tan lotion on my boat. I am going to have to start screening my fishing buddies to make sure they have nothing with the word banana on it or in it.

When fishin in the boat the net must be put away in its special spot and always, if you drink it or not, have beer in the boat. Other than that if you catch a fish 5's all around. never, never leave a buddy hangin. The fish gods don't like it

-don't pay attention to your pole

One of the three of us must always wear a Big Johnson Fishing Reels shirt. And someone has to go downstairs to take a nap. Works everytime my daughter goes. She goes downstairs, bang! Fish on! Usually her pole!
